13th November 1981 - Wasted Youth play Salisbury Tech

On 13th November 1981 one of my favourite rock bands of the time came to Salisbury. They were called Wasted Youth.

Rock critics at the time said they were basically a pastiche of the Velvet Underground. This didn’t matter much to me then, nor does it now.

The band were from Canning Town in East London. Their record label had a picture of distinctive ‘Bridgehouse’ pub which was owned by one of the band’s fathers.

I first saw Wasted Youth supporting Toyah at the Rainbow, then at the Venue in Victoria, then at Salisbury Tech.

Gettysburg Address supported.
