22nd September 1766 - Salisbury people force famers to sell at a fair price

On 22nd September 1766 a large gathering of Salisbury people forced farmers to drop the price of wheat from 6s 8d a bushel to 5s a bushel. A crowd gathered at the Town Mill but dispersed after soldiers were called out.[1].
