This picture is taken from the opposite point of view to the last one.
The Maundrell Hall was named after John Maundrell, who was burnt at the stake for heresy in 1556. It is now called the Slug and Lettuce. I’ll do a longer post on this shortly on my Salisbury local history blog.
Hello,
thank you very much for this image and the supporting information. I am relatively new to Salisbury, having only moved here in 1998. I am presently cataloguing the photograph collection of Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum in the Close. I had one of the interior of Maundrel Hall, Fisherton Street, but had no idea of where in the street the hall was located. Now I know.
I have recently dealt with the 2600 photos taken by Salisbury Camera Club as their Millenium Project and another 2000 photos taken by a resident in 2009/10. I am sure the Museum would welcome any images of Salisbury, past and present, whether they be digital, postcards or photos.
