Here’s some pictures from this morning’s ‘sunrise’ at Stonehenge. ‘Sunrise’ here is in quotes because we didn’t really see the sun.

This morning’s solstice will now officially be known as The One Where it Rained[1].

For much of the time, the wind was howling and the rain was lashing down…but it was lovely. Somebody else who was there tweeted the phrase ‘Drenched but blessed’, which sums it up well.

The pictures aren’t of the best quality. They were all taken on my mobile, because I didn’t want to get my camera wet, and it was a bit dark and murky…. and because I’m a rubbish photographer. Having said all of which, you can’t go too far wrong photographing the stones. Especially at winter solstice.

I’m a lucky man.

Happy Christmas and have a great 2014!

  1. Previous solstices have been the snowy one, the foggy one I don’t seem to have a page for, the one when it was nice, and the other one when it was nice []
