Pearce Way, Salisbury

Pearce Way is on the Bishopdown Farm Estate on the northern edge of Salisbury. It’s probably best known for the Travel Inn hotel.

I don’t know who Pearce Way is named after.

The name Pearce has the same linguistic route as ‘Peter’ – the name Jesus gave to Saint Peter meaning the ‘rock’.

Pearce is derived from ‘Pierce’ – see Behind the Name: Meaning, Origin and History of the Name Pearce.

‘Pierce’ is a variant of the Christian name ‘Piers’ – see Behind the Name: Meaning, Origin and History of the Name Pierce.

Piers, similar to the French Pierre, is a medieval form of Peter – see Behind the Name: Meaning, Origin and History of the Name Piers.
