I’m not sure why Prospect Place is so called.
The word Prospect makes me think of pubs, but I suspect this is just because there is a famous pub in London called ‘The Prospect of Whitby’1 – I don’t think it’s a typical pub name, and I’ve not found any references to pubs in Salisbury called ‘The Prospect’.
I think it’s fairly likely that it’s called ‘Prospect Place’ because that some of the houses would have a good view of the Cathedral – it’s on raised ground less than half a mile to the East of the building.
