I don’t know the derivation of the name of Roberts Road. It could be the name of the original landowner or developer. A prominent Salisbury citizen by the name of Roberts was Dr John Roberts. He built ‘Little Ben’ – the clock tower by Fisherton Bridge – in memory of his wife.
It’s built on the site of a gaol. There is a carving of some chains on the side.
