Greyhound Lane is in the centre of Wilton.

It’s probably named after the Greyhound pub which is close by, in the Market Place.

Green Man at Wetherspoons

This is the Green Man which appears on the cover of Salisbury Civic Society’s ‘Salisbury in Detail‘ book. It is on the north-facing side of the Kings Arms pub – otherwise known as either ‘Spoonies’ or, formerly, the County Hotel.

This is the Kings Arms, in St John St in Salisbury. I saw the late Ted Heath in here one New Years Eve.

Three Cuppes, Salisbury

Three Cuppes Lane is in the centre of Salisbury.

It was named fairly recently after the Three Cuppes Inn, which is now a private house in Winchester Street. The Three Cuppes themselves could have a couple of different meanings:

Tollgate Road SP1

Tollgate Road is probably so-named because there was a toll gate somewhere along it. A toll gate is a barrier across the road where the traveller would pay to use the road.

There was a pub called the Toll Gate at one end of Tollgate Road which has only shutdown fairly recently.
