A few words and pictures on my trip up to Stonehenge for the 2011 winter solstice…
This year I got the bus from Salisbury to Amesbury. Then I walked from Countess Road over the Plain to Stonehenge. I did the walk with three people I met getting off the bus – if you were . . . → Read More: Winter Solstice Stone-Henge 2011

I received this from English Heritage:

Salisbury Pantomime Reviews
I was lucky enough to go and see ‘Jack In the Beanstalk’ at Salisbury Playhouse last Friday. I thought it was great – spectacular production, all the traditional elements in place but with some fun topical and local references.

This is a roundup of this week’s news about Stonehenge. Most weeks recently I’ve done a single post of links and news about both Stonehenge and Salisbury, but because it’s been a busy week for the Stones it seems worth doing a separate one for the Stones.
The two main ‘stories’ were the discovery of . . . → Read More: Stonehenge news: cursus pits, floodlights, and the Solstice procession

This is good. My friend Fred Feiber, who was the lead artist on the Milford Bridge mural, has done a pastel drawing of Stonehenge.
Fred is planning to create a series of cards from the drawing. As soon as they’re available I’ll include a link here.
In the meantime, Fred has two wesbsites:

I’ve currently got a bunch of Google ‘alerts’ for news about Stonehenge or Salisbury1.
I get one or two ‘hits’ per day for ‘Stonehenge’ from people who have visited and are maintaining online diaries or blogs about their travels, or about life in general. I recently thought that it might be interesting to take a . . . → Read More: Stonehenge – the view from the blogs

This is the final post in the series on my walk from Salisbury to Stonehenge to Amesbury for the Winter Solstice. This has a couple of more-or-less interesting photos that didn’t fit into the previous posts.
The first is the ditch. To be honest I’ve no previous memory of the ditch at all, although I . . . → Read More: Stonehenge Winter Solstice – part 4

This post is about the journey back from Stonehenge. We walked back to Amesbury, then got a bus back to Salisbury.
We didn’t spend more than an hour or so at Stonehenge – we both started to feel the cold, and we still had three more miles to walk. I was disappointed to miss the . . . → Read More: Stonehenge Solstice – Winter 2010 – part 3
